Azuqua's List functions are a powerful tool to have in your tool belt. If you need a simple way to transform your data, ‘List-Map’ might be the solution for you. List functions accept any type of list and will transform it to a new list of values or value types.
Scenarios where ‘List-Map’ can be helpful:
- Performing calculations from two different data sources and the total sum emailed in a status report
- Cleaning up data coming out of one cloud service before sending it to another cloud service
You’ll notice that in both scenarios it is necessary to perform additional actions in the parent FLO after the data transformation is complete. If the parent FLO doesn't need to perform any other actions after the data transformed, check out ‘List-For Each’.
Examples of scenarios described above:
The Sales Team tracks the current deal size in Smartsheet. The Sales Director tracks expected deal size in Pipedrive CRM. Once a day, FLO is scheduled to run and ‘List-Map’ performs calculations based on inputs from both Smartsheet and Pipedrive. Returned value is sum-ed and emailed to the Sales Director.
Project Management team tracks in-bound projects in Smartsheet but isn’t always consistent with how they enter their data. A little data cleanup is needed before the weekly project report is sent to the PM Director. Once a week this FLO runs, and ‘List-Map’ corrects the capitalization issues, composes the relevant data points and the output sent back to the Parent FLO has the desired HTML formatted string. This is then easily Joined and composed into a formatted list in an email.
How have you used 'List-Map'?
